POSITION SUMMARY:
Instructors hold primary responsibility for the implementation and development of The Goodwill Excel Center curriculum and the success of its students. We seek teachers who are committed to continuously improving curriculum and instruction through collaboration as part of a team. The Teacher will facilitate learning for students attending The Goodwill Excel Center. The Teacher employs a student-centered approach, effectively tailoring the instructional strategies to the individual students’ needs and approaching instruction with grit, creativity, and innovation. Strategies may include but are not limited to direct instruction, one-on-one instruction, seminars, small group learning, self-paced lessons, blended learning and courses, and online learning tools. Instructors employ high impact instructional practices and motivational techniques. The position will work with the instructional team in meeting the educational objectives and adhering to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills standards.

 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develops cubiculum and delivers instruction aligned to TEKS; develops nonnative and summative assessments
• Assists to develop students' individual learning plans ·among with the Life Coaches based on baseline data and credits
• Assists in determining students' educational placement from the least integrated instruction to the most integrated
• Manages and monitors students' learning experiences to ensure student engagement and achieve ILP goals
• Analyzes and interprets data and makes necessary adjustments to programs and to achieve !LP goals
• Utilizes best practice teaching methods and motivational techniques; teaches and develops career readiness
• Effectively tailors service delivery strategies to the individual students' needs using creativity and innovation.
• Effectively uses technology to differentiate instruction and engage students; embeds technology TEKS into curriculum
• Provides support to students taking online courses; monitors progress and assesses work as needed.
• Works with special education and BE/ESL staff to ensure services are implemented as designed. 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Teach and/or facilitate evening class, within a rotation, periodically throughout the term/year. (Evening course offerings will vary from term to term as will needed teacher rotation coverage.)
• Assist school team with outreach efforts and community integration events throughout the school year (periodically at nights and on weekends).
• Perform other duties as directed.
 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

 

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in subject specialty required with a minimum of 2 years teaching experience post licensing, preferred.
• Subject specialty positions needed: Spanish; 6 hours of Speech or Speech certificate preferred.
• Experience working with high school age students in a non-traditional setting and/or In adult education setting highly preferred; Bilingual In English and Spanish, highly preferred; Must pass a criminal background check and complete fingerprinting requirement.
• Current Texas Teaching Certification In subject specialty at the appropriate grade levels; dual special education and/or BE/ESL certification preferred.
• Candidates may be required to add special education and ESL certification at the employer's expense. 
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bilingual
• ESL Certification, Dual or Multiple Subject Certifications.
• Experience working with high school age students in a non-traditional setting and/or In adult education setting highly preferred.
